FAQ

How can I know that this is really serious and does not enrich the recipients personally?

All payments go to the retailer’s virtual Pesapal or Mpesa account. Payments to the retailer can only be made in their bank account and must be approved by us. Cash withdrawals are therefore excluded. The donations are published individually and in total on our website. The output page is also shown transparently.

Why can’t I find my name on the donor list?

Please give us two days to receive and show the payment. If after the third day you still cannot find your payment in the donation list, please write us an email to pamoja@diani4u.com. We will then immediately look for the error and clarify the issue with you.

Could I also reclaim my donation (right of withdrawal) and if so within what period?

You cannot request your donation back. With the execution of the payment you have declared your will that we can use your donation money for the grocery purchases as part of the Diani Pamoja project

I want to donate anonymously, how can I do this?

Every donation is treated anonymously! No personal data will be published unless it is your wish!

Will my donation be publicly listed and if so where?

Your donations will be publicly listed on www.diani4u.com. You will receive either a reference number or an identification number with which you can identify your donation. If you want to have your name published, you should send us an email to pamoja@diani4u.com with a screenshot or proof of your transfer and the name (s) that we should publish for the amount.

How do I get updates on the course of the project?

There are regular updates on the website and if you are on Facebook you can also follow us on the Diani Pamoja Facebook page.

Do you have administrative costs and if so how much are they in% of my donation?

All administrative costs are borne by individual members of Diani Pamoja. In addition to our voluntary work, this is also our contribution to support the project.

What% of my donation really reaches the needy?

We pass on the entire donation volume 1: 1 (minus the bank costs – approx. 3.5%) in food deliveries. We will publish net income that is used 100% in a timely manner so that every donor can understand it. The Red Cross Kenya and the district government will bear the costs of the distribution. Administrative costs are borne privately by us.

Can I deduct my donation from taxes?

We do not know the country of your permanent residence and can therefore not provide any information on the individual tax regulations. Under the current conditions, you can unfortunately not deduct the donation in Germany for tax purposes.

Do I get a donation confirmation?

Unfortunately we are unable to issue a donation receipt because we do not have a registered association or organization in Germany. When payment is received via the specially set up PayPal account, however, you will receive a payment confirmation. Unfortunately, this is not possible for transfers to Mpesa.

Do you (the beneficiaries) have a tax exemption?

Since we receive the money directly in the merchant’s accounts, he taxes his sales according to the applicable conditions in Kenya

Will the cash flow, the earnings be publicly disclosed?

All earnings are published individually on our website, so that you can identify your donations, even if you have not consented to the publication of your name.

Can I know how much donations you have collected in total?

The donation amount that we have already received is updated several times a week and published on our website.

Do you also make an accounting or income / expenditure invoice and is it visible?

Of course! Bookkeeping is essential – after all, we are responsible for the sensible use and accurate accounting of the funds. All income and expenses are also published on our website.

Are you working with the Kenyan government?

Diani Pamoja is independent. Cooperation with the district government takes place and is also important so that problems such as double care are avoided and zone plans are coordinated.

Are you (the beneficiaries) an organization registered in Kenya?

No. If the current Diani Pamoja project is successful, we will register for later use. At the moment, quick help was needed and a registration would have taken too much time.

Are you (the beneficiary) a non-profit organization?

No. Diani Pamoja consists of private individuals and companies that have come together for quick and unbureaucratic help.

I don’t know the recipient of the PesaPal account – who is that?

For tax reasons, all incoming payments are processed directly via the merchant’s PayPal account (SHREEand Damasis traders), which was opened especially for Diani Pamoja.

I don’t know the recipient of the MPESA account – who is that?

For tax reasons, all incoming payments are processed directly via the merchant’s Mpesa account (SHREE), which was opened especially for Diani Pamoja.

How long does this relief campaign run – until when can I donate?

We assume a time frame of at least 3-6 months. At the moment, however, it is difficult to predict what will happen in Kenya and around the world. We’ll keep you up to date.

I want to donate specifically to the unemployed of a certain hotel / cottage – is that possible?

Unfortunately, no! We do not have access to employee lists in the hotels or catering facilities. In addition, many former employees of the tourism industry have already returned to their families in their home villages, where they wait for tourism to revive and we cannot reach them at all.

Will the donations also be used to pay for employees of the Diani Pamoja organization?

No! All employees work on a voluntary basis so that the donations are converted 1: 1 into food. The Red Cross Kenya or the district government will bear the costs of the distribution.

Where do you buy the food – are the prices fair?

The purchase is made through a local dealer who passes on the wholesale prices to us.

How do you make sure that the help really reaches the needy?

Distribution is handled by Red Cross Kenya and controlled by Diani Pamoja employees.

Is there a form for a SEPA direct debit mandate?

We cannot collect direct debits. Every payment must be activated by you.

What do you do with my personal information?

There will be an overview of all donations on our website. The names of the donors will only be published with the express consent. All other data on donors and account details are used by us expressly only for one-off payments and are not saved.

What do you do about data protection of donors?

We do not store any data that is not expressly required for proof of payment or transparency between Diani Pamoja and the individual donor. Data is generally not passed on to third parties.

What exactly do you do with my donated money?

The money is invested exclusively in food donations (basic foodstuffs, possibly also water, soap). The food is packaged in family-friendly packages and then distributed to the selected group of people.

How much should a donation be to feed a family for 1 week?

The question is difficult to answer because family sizes fluctuate widely. Our food packages will be a support for the respective families, but cannot take over the complete supply. Very large families can also receive 2 family packages.
